I am a little delayed in posting my weekly update by about 7 weeks, I wanted to round out February results with some updates to upcoming bills and spending.
At the end of the month we made a decision to jump on a car for my wife. We found a deal on a car that was mislabeled by the dealer as a lower trim allowing us to save several thousand dollars. This also means that starting next month we will have a car payment, higher car insurance and higher property taxes.
Overall February bills we did better, we had lowered our grocery bill from the previous month by about 35%. Grocery prices have gone through the roof and are only expected to go higher. Dining out had stayed the same partially due to kids sports eating into our time. Also rental property leasing was keeping me away from home as I normally handle this after work. I am on the look out for coupons, gift card deals and grocery sales to stock up.
Most of the savings for the month was put towards the down payment on the car. We always run all our bills through the credit cards for the cash back. Discover card has 5% back on groceries this quarter. I am going to update the March bills here in the next few days.
